So they declared my car totaled. I could choose to be optimistic about not paying to get it fixed, but then that mean voice in the back of my head keeps reminding me that I'm now carless, and while Ann Arbor has good public transportation, it's not so good I'm happy without a car. And I've no way to get to anywhere farther -- like, say, my folks. No word yet on if there was anything wrong with my brakes. I may know tomorrow.
Since only two of you presumably know what I'm talking about, I rear-ended someone really quite hard on Thursday afternoon. I'm okay, but it's rather unpleasant nonetheless. [*/understatement] I am also holding onto a fairly slim hope that my recently "fixed" brakes partially malfunctioned, because if they didn't, I really don't know what went wrong (plus if they did, no points and little insurance hike).
